For students and parents across China, May means only one thing: the Gaokao. This year, an estimated 9.4 million high school seniors sat the two-day college entrance examination in hopes of grabbing one of 3.7 million undergraduate spots. Happy news could spell a new path for their families, country, and the world.
As these students look to the future, so too is China readying itself for global leadership. Following news this month of the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Agreement, China and the EU have now taken up the slack. Trump’s loss, however, is going to be China’s gain. With an ever-increasing lens on the region, China is ready and willing to enter the spotlight.
What news did I miss? How is your neck of the woods preparing itself for a more sustainable future?
Oh yeah…there was the whole One Belt, One Road thing, too (a $1.3 trillion investment means most media has already covered it!).
